Remind you of anyone? It's Mickey! Since my little guy LOVES Mickey, this was perfect!
We made one "Mickey" for each day that we have left.
That's a lot of Mickey's!
How we made them:
- Each Mickey is made up of 3 paper rings and there is a white one connecting each Mickey.
- Each ring was one inch wide and 9 inches long (the width of a piece of construction paper). We used staples to connect the ends of the rings.
- Mickey's head:
- Made using one ring of black construction paper and two circles punched with a 1 1/4 inch circle punch.
- We wrote the date on one "ear" and how many days until Disney on the other "ear". I have a white pen; you could also use something like a white crayon or colored pencil.
- Fold a little flap at the bottom of the ears and staple them to the black ring.
- Mickey's body:
- We used a regular hold punch to punch little white circles and glued two to each red ring for the buttons on Mickey's pants.
- It's best to glue the white circles on before you create the ring.
- Put the glue on the circles (not on the red paper). It may show on the red paper once it dries, so this will help avoid extra glue showing.
- Mickey's shoes
- Just a plain yellow ring here. Nothing to add to it
- Our process:
- We cut and punched all our pieces ahead of time (i.e. all the strips of paper, all the black circles, all the white circles).
- Glued the white circles to each red strip of paper.
- Attached the black, red, and yellow pieces together until we had enough.
- Connected all the pieces
- Wrote a date and countdown number on two ears and attached them to a black ring.
- Attached the black ring to a yellow ring (the bottom of a Mickey) with one of our white strips.
Then you'll have a lot of these!
And since I couldn't leave them on my fence...
...I moved them inside, but separated the chain. I wanted each Mickey to be hanging the right way (if they're all attached, you'll get upside-down Mickeys).
One Disney project down. How many more will there be? Who knows? I've got all kinds of ideas swimming around in my head. I'm so, so excited!
